Notes: The book is tightly bound in clean sea green boards lettered in gilt to the spine; the boards are a little faded and bumped at the edges. The text block is slightly age browned with minor foxing, but internally generally clean and free from inscriptions. The John Minton designed jacket is the original and not price clipped, it has some minor chips and closed tears to the edges and it is slightly age toned, more so to the spine, but overall it is a substantially complete and attractive example. The second and final novel by this enigmatic author represents an irresistible combination of author, publisher and artist. Like its predecessor, Scamp, a minor classic of mid twentieth century literature, Rain on the Pavements is a fascinating portrayal of the murkier end of the London Scene during the 1930s and 1940s.
