Notes: The book is tightly and squarely bound in clean green boards with bright gilt lettering to the spine, the extremities are a little rubbed. The text block is slightly age toned and dusty to the edges, but internally clean and free from foxing or inscriptions, the erratum slip to the start of chapter one is present. The dust jacket is the original and not price clipped, it has small chips and short closed tears to the edge and is a little age toned, with slight fading to the spine. The first edition of the fourth title in Ransomes much loved series is in my experience very difficult; this is the best copy in an original dust jacket that I have seen. The book introduces us to a number of new characters, my personal favourite being the pug, William, who features prominently in a number of the more amusing illustrations.
